Hello, I’m Sue

Coming across soap making was pure coincidence. I was looking for something completely different when I discovered soapmaking videos on YouTube. Immediately I was fascinated by all the different designs and possibilities and soon I decided to make my own soap.

But as nerdy as I am, I first searched for every information I could get, bought a very detailed book, and tried to understand the chemistry behind it. I wanted to know everything before starting. You don’t have to know much about chemistry to make soap. But I just like it.

I’m not a chemist, I have a Masters degree in civil engineering. I have always been very interested in chemistry and mathematics and always want to know the how and why. So it seems soap making is the perfect hobby for me.

My soap recipes are all palm-free and vegan. I try to keep them simple and to not use very many or fancy ingredients. Aloe Vera plays a big role for me. I simply love this plant. It gives you so many benefits and I use it nearly daily. For soap making you can use the pure Aloe gel or you can make Aloe oil and use the oil for soap making. This is something you should definitely try by yourself.

I also have a passion for teaching and helping others. With my YouTube Channel Sue & Soap, I want to share everything I have learned about soap making and exchange knowledge with all of you. So we all can find a deeper understanding of the how and why of soap making. I believe everybody has the ability to learn everything and everybody can make soap. I’m here to support you on your way.
